This is possibly the worst gig app of them all, and I have used Walmart Spark, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. The rates they offer to pay should be against the law, and in my opinion, apps like these were specifically designed not as a way for people to earn extra money, but as a way to take advantage of people who are struggling in life and having a difficult time.
They prey on people. People who have no other options because of various issues, myself included, because I left a domestic violence situation, was invited to stay with my aunt, who forgot to ask her boyfriend, so after I drove 2 states away, told me I can't stay there. Sadly, there are practically zero resources available for women in my situation. Don't believe the hype, the complete and total misinformation being presented that there is 'help available,' because that's far from the case.
How sad we have become as a nation when hard-working individuals can't even afford housing. The divide between the haves and the have-nots is only growing wider. If you have any type of issue during a trip, you can also expect ZERO SUPPORT. Imagine sitting on hold for a half hour when a recording comes on the line, thanks you for your patience for holding for 30 minutes and then apologizing that no one could be connected to assist you right now, and to try back at another time before DISCONNECTING THE LINE!
That's exactly what you can expect when you have been on hold for 30 minutes. Maybe if you hired support staff from the United States, ones that speak the language fluently, you would not have support calls that last so long because the driver can't understand what the F they are saying. Excuse my French, but why are you hiring people to support drivers who can't properly speak the language? Are the excessive hold times worth the money you are saving?
I know what you pay drivers, so I can only imagine what you must be paying these folks. Probably 50 cents an hour. Sadly, they probably do just fine on that wage because their housing doesn't cost over 2000 dollars for a studio! Make that make sense!
Update: So now I had to relocate and I am staying in a shelter while I try to rebuild my life.
As if everything Grubhub has put me through hasn't been enough, I learned that I have to go without ANY income for the next two weeks! Why? Because the fantastic customer service representative put in the wrong zip code when I was updating my account. It seems like a pretty easy fix to me, just put in the right zip code.
But to illustrate again, just how little they care about the people that keep them operating as a business, Grubhub is perfectly fine with making one of their drivers go without income for 2 weeks because they refuse to fix the error made by their first-rate talent pool.
If you can get by without me for 2 weeks, then I will just have to do the same. My days of getting ripped off by this corporation, and apps like it, are OVER!
